Burnishing is a chemical oxidation process that gives a beautiful satin black appearance to the treated parts. Around 1 to 2 microns thick in the mass , this process improves the resistance to abrasion, corrosion and the aesthetics of the part, without changing its dimensions or altering its hardness.
Unlike most split rings which are simply nickel plated to protect them from corrosion, this split ring is 100% 304l stainless steel which is known for its very good resistance to corrosion.
